I think you are right. She loves watching and learning too, so I doubt it would take her long to pick up tanning. She was really trying hard to braid and then twist grass last week, fascinated by the way I could take it and weave into something new and different.
I can picture her doing that, the gorgeous little thing! I think it is fantastic (and important) that you're teaching the little force of nature all these skills.
I talk to her about what I do all the time, and she watches and listens and learns. Even when the skill is slightly advanced for her pudgy little fingers (knife work, for example), she still pays attention. It is a joy and a hope both, likewise with nature-study, she gets in there, up close, and really examines things.
