Yes to this! “the central linking theme of the first season of The Crow’s Nest, will revolve around the word ‘respect’. These essays and thoughts will be linked by the above ideas, centred on nature and ancestral skills” and to challenging the artificial line between inside and outside. Well met, fellow traveler!

It's always a lovely thing, when someone goes back to an earlier post I link to, reads, and comments! Makes it all worthwhile, somehow.

And well met, indeed!

I know the feeling. It makes it a little easier to trust that people will see our stuff all in good time.

I think I've found a kindred spirit.

I'm so glad you took the time to read this and I'm even happier that you have found a kindred spirit! I suspect that, once Substack has a 'nature' category, we'll find even more of 'our people'. I know they are here, and I know they are finding my words already, however, which is great. Thanks again!

I haven't had tome to read all your posts yet, or even the most intriguing ones. I hope somewhere in there I'll find one that tells how you made that delightful shelter in the woods. For the last couple of years, something has been urging me to do the same thing, though weather here in Canada isn't too condusive most of the year. On another note, it would be great if the tags we give our posts applied to external searches as well as internal organization. Also BTW, I'm pretty sure it was you who inspired me to spend the afternoon yesterday organizing my site better. It isn't finished (is it ever?) but it's better.

You certainly will find out about the shelter--if you work your way through A Fall in Time (the section can be found as a tab at the top), you'll get to the shelter building!

I'd love to spend some time in Canada. Aurélie and I are planning on a long canoe journey (maybe the Yukon) as a belated honeymoon, at some point. I think it would be possible to live out there, even in winter, if you had the proper supplies and equipment (and a carefully chosen location). I know people who have done it, but it is certainly tough.

I agree about the tags, that would be really useful. I think that what will probably (eventually) happen is that the AI-powered search functionality, which is a very recent development, will make searching so much easier. Fingers crossed!

And hooray for inspiring you to organise your site, that's a great thing and, yes, it will NEVER be finished, but that is not a bad thing.

LOL "tome" should be "time", but "tome" may be appropriate too.

Ha! Tome is the word. Although I've archived and paywalled many of the older posts, a lot of those were even longer, six thousand or more words. Which is far far too many.
